| And then he walked along the edge of the Circle
This is the place where we will post your stories about the Green's Playhouse, The Glasgow Apollo and Satelitte City (The Wee Apollo). As it develops we will break the stories up into sections such as Myths, Gigs I missed, Meeting the Bands, Where are they now etc. No story too trivial and we will only edit out bad language!
New Forum structure on Apollomemories soon.

| First gig I ever saw... a boy of 12, near the back of the stalls, utterly blown away
by the original Elton John band, with Kiki Dee in support. (Is it true that most of
her band defected from backing Arthur Brown to support her? I'm just sorry that at
12, the irony of the name BJ Cole went straight over my head) The big memory is of
the crowd spending the night yelling for Saturday's Alright (kept for an encore - the
boy wasn't daft). In 76, the band wasn't as tight, but it was a close run thing...
Pinball Wizard was the crowd pleaser that night. Never saw him after that, but doubt
he's ever come close to what he was doing in 73 (and can't say I've got much
inclination to see him now)

| Dear Douglas
You dont knlw what you are missing. Saw Elton in Cyprus last
month on a solo concert and was exposed to 3-hour gig from elton john album through
honky chateau to last album. Quite brilliant with his voice better than ever as well
as his piano work. It was breathtaking.
Like you I saw EJ first back in 73 at
Caird Hall Dundee and was blown away with what was then the best concert I had ever
seen and still remains to this day one of the best.
Since 73 I have seen the
band on many occations with the last time this solo effort in Nicosia.
When
you get the chance look up Elton again as his feel for the music is stll there as it
was in 72/73.
Great site, I have only gone into it today.

| I was approaching 17 when I saw Eltonat the Playhouse. What I remember was the encore
of Elderberry Wine which seemed to last forever. Was there with one of the first
'crushes' I had. her name was Agnes Mitchell and she had the cutest smile ever. Got
the kindest, sweetest brush off I ever was on the receivingend from Agnes. I was just
a boy, giving it all away - and faded away, sadly. She was a too mature 19 after all.
