And then he walked along the edge of the Circle

This is the place where we will post your stories about the Green's Playhouse, The Glasgow Apollo and Satelitte City (The Wee Apollo). As it develops we will break the stories up into sections such as Myths, Gigs I missed, Meeting the Bands, Where are they now etc. No story too trivial and we will only edit out bad language!

New Forum structure on Apollomemories soon.

Comments on Emerson, Lake & Palmer [reply]

The concert on 19 December 1971 was one of the best I ever saw. The tour was to promote the 'Pictures At An Exhibition' album, recorded 26 March 1971, although, strangely enough, the band didn't play anything from it !

My mate and I had seats about 8 rows back in the Stalls [usually a recipe' for a sore neck].

The support band, 'Spontaneous Combustion' weren't that good and their own material wasn't received too well by the audience. It was only when they played 'Sabre Dance' that the place came alive. They'd been signed up by Greg Lake [who I believe produced their first album], hence the reason they played support.

E.L.P. took the stage to an enormous roar from the crowd and, as was expected, played a stormer.

I've added the set list from that gig, and as can be seen, it included most of the tracks from the first two albums.

Another great night at the Greens/Apollo.
