This is the place where we will post your stories about the Green's Playhouse, The Glasgow Apollo and Satelitte City (The Wee Apollo). As it develops we will break the stories up into sections such as Myths, Gigs I missed, Meeting the Bands, Where are they now etc. No story too trivial and we will only edit out bad language!
New Forum structure on Apollomemories soon.

| I saw them on the 2nd last gig in there i think. I STILL cant believe that the feckin
crappy Style Council was th elast ever gig there. Is that right? Heep were pretty
good i think. Wasnt my kind of thing though,,but i do like them nowadyas. Keyboard
player Hensley is good to watch,,stabbin the keys with the big knife and all that.i
remember thinkin that the whole thing seemed really lifeless and sad though. Not
the band,,the atmosphere in the place. Not busy either which didnt help. And
probably THE quietest gig i ever saw in there. The p.a was tiny.G ood live band!

| Ken Hensley was no longer with the band by that point Jim, and the guy with the
knives in the keyboard would have been Keith Emerson.
Anyway about the Heep
gig - I remember everyone trying to rip bits of the Apollo out so they could take
home a souvenir of the old place. On the way back to the train, saw some guys with
half a row of seats! Only got an ashtray myself, long lost though. Heep were good
that night as always!

| My first ever concert was Uriah Heep on the 16th of november 1973,waiting on the
chartered bus outside the Regal cinema in Lanark,i was bloody freezing, and
alternatively excited/ ******ting myself because i had never been to the Apollo
before, and all the "Apollo veterans"were winding me up about one of the
stewards who had a bad/missing eye and was meant to be an evil bugger with his big
torch if you got up out of your seat. As it turned out i never saw him,the concert
was amazing, and the support band was the" heavy metal kids" with Gary
Holton(Wayne in aufweidersein pet)as lead singer

| yeah - the last "proper" gig at the apollo 1985. i agree with others that
it was a rather downbeat atmosphere. we all knew we were losing something special.
even the bouncers had given up. my and my mate thought we would sit it out in one of
the boxes to the side of the stage. that we we could savour watching the great apollo
metal heads and the band at the same time. it was cool seeing punters taking home
ripped up seats at the end.

| Not a big fan of Uriah Heep but they were the first band I seen their in November
1975. Set me on my way to many concerts in the great place. Been to plenty of
enjoyable concerts in other venues but none can capture the atmosphere of the Apollo.
