And then he walked along the edge of the Circle

This is the place where we will post your stories about the Green's Playhouse, The Glasgow Apollo and Satelitte City (The Wee Apollo). As it develops we will break the stories up into sections such as Myths, Gigs I missed, Meeting the Bands, Where are they now etc. No story too trivial and we will only edit out bad language!

New Forum structure on Apollomemories soon.

Comments on Eddie and the Hot Rods [reply]

A GROUP OF FRIENDS WERE IN TOWN TO SEE A NEW FILM AND AS WE PASSED THE APPOLO THE BOUNCERS TALKED US INTO SEEING EDDIE AND THE HOT RODS,  THERE MUST HAVE ONLY BEEN ABOUT 200 PEOPLE IN AND THEY WERE MURDER.  EVEN WORSE THAN THAT, THE SUPPORT ACT WAS THE ORIGINAL ULTRAVOX, DIABOLICAL.   THE PROMOTER MUST HAVE LOST A FORTUNE [reply]

i seen the rods twice at the apollo and they always delivered. [reply]

It wis a great night when they had squeeze and the radio stars in support.they were the best act on a strong bill that night [reply]

"Winter Freeze Out" tour in December 1976 was a disaster, it was the labels (Island) idea to team up The Hot Rods and Ultravox! After Graeme Douglas joined, the new "beefed up" Hot Rods June 1977 gig at the Apollo was a classic. The March 1978 gig with Radio Stars and Squeeze was easily as good again, Barrie Masters leading the choir through "Do Anything You Wanna Do" complete with cheesy handclaps is a lasting memory. Found a copy of "The Ramones" debut in Lost Chord earlier in the day of that June 77 gig so its a day I'll never forget as well. Still keep in touch with Graeme and Barrie. [reply]
