This is the place where we will post your stories about the Green's Playhouse, The Glasgow Apollo and Satelitte City (The Wee Apollo). As it develops we will break the stories up into sections such as Myths, Gigs I missed, Meeting the Bands, Where are they now etc. No story too trivial and we will only edit out bad language!
New Forum structure on Apollomemories soon.

| Gillan were the first band I saw at the Apollo in March '80. Fond memories of that
one would be the Broughtons as support - not! Boring as hell, and not many seemed to
be enjoying them. Gillan and the band were fantastic, Colin Towns a great keybord
player, now writing for TV and movies. The Big mad McCoy on bass and general rumbling
noises! Bernie Torme on guitar and wang bar histrionics, and reliable old Mick
Underwood on drums. Great lineup, great songs from the Mr Universe album, and a
storming version of Smoke on the Water as well. Couldn't ask for more really! Apart
from maybe Child in Time.....

| I remember seeing Gillan at the Apollo too..I'm not sure when it was exactly, could
it have been the mid 70's? but one thing that did stick in my mind was the man Ian
Gillan, what an amazing voice. He entered on stage belting out this long bawl that
seemed to go on forever, it took my breathe away! From that moment on things went
absolutely mad and ever upwards! Brilliant!

| Got ticket stub for Friday 24th October 1980. Remember bass player coming on with
full head of hair and Gillan pulling the wig off.
