| And then he walked along the edge of the Circle
This is the place where we will post your stories about the Green's Playhouse, The Glasgow Apollo and Satelitte City (The Wee Apollo). As it develops we will break the stories up into sections such as Myths, Gigs I missed, Meeting the Bands, Where are they now etc. No story too trivial and we will only edit out bad language!
New Forum structure on Apollomemories soon.

| Saw them play a good set on the Iron Fist tour, They descended on a
hydraulic(?)stage! I i remember corrctly the thing biggered up at one point too. I
also saw them play with Brian Roberston on guitar on the Another Perfect Day
tour.Rmemebr it was hard to get my head around Motorhead with a guy using a flanger
pedal and delay! hehheh! Thought they were turnin into U2 or sumthin. The we man
looked out of place in his Tukka boots amd all that i thought. Other thing i
remember about the gig is that at one pint Lemmy siad"ok,,we are going off for a
break,we arent as young as we used to be" and promptly did just that for about 5
or 10 minutes! To much booing and scratching of heads too! What an odd thing to
do in the middle of a set eh?Then there was the gig with Girlschool when they got
custard pie'd mid set from the girls!Nice! Tank supported them at one of those
gigs too i think,,,and im sure there was ABSOLUTELY NO BASS coming out of the pa
whatsoever.

| Brilliant every time except that one with Robbo. Funny thing was that for the Ace Of
Spades tour which was our first Motorhead Gig, we got tickets near the back of the
stalls because they were supposed to be horrendously loud. They came on, we started
headbanging, looked at each other and realised we could hardly hear them! So,
buggered off down the front and got deafened because the PA was standing not on the
stage, but from the stalls level up. Was a wee bit louder down there!
Still
doing it as well as ever, and tickets just on sale now for the 2004 tour, so I'll be
popping up the Apollo (Hammersmith version, sadly!) again this November for Another
Perfect Gig!

| Yes - I was there that night and it was honestly the loudest gig I have ever heard.
It was so loud that you couldn't hear it properly and it was because the PA speakers
were at ground level and we were in the fourth or fifth row - Ears Bleeding and also
remember the bouncers with huge bits of cotton wool hanging out their ears. Lemmy
taunted the crowd by saying he couldn't believe he was In Glasgow 'cos the crowd had
went so quiet but it was because we were absolutely deafened!! Too Loud!!!

| Never heard a band so loud as Motorhead on the Iron Fist tour but it didn't matter -
I was young, had loads of hair, was pissed and had neck muscles that could headbang
all night. Couldn't hear a thing for about two days after it though. Does anyone
remember being hit by a chair during the Ace of Spades tour? There were about 6 of us
at the left hand side of the stalls towards the front when we noticed our row of
chairs was loose. We only managed to pull out 3 or 4 and lob them further down the
stalls before the bouncers started charging up from the front to find the culprits.
Great times in a wonderful venue especially when you had a a tasty companion to snog
in between songs (Carol Nuttall if I remember correctly).

| First ever gig i went to was the Ace of Spades tour as a very timid 12 year old. I
went with my older cousin from Greenock and all his mental mates. I was in the stalls
and just remember a wall of sound that nearly took my head off. An awesome
experience! Also, i met Lemmy and Fast Eddie Clarke in Listen Records(anyone remember
that?) before the gig and got my ticket signed. As we were about to go into the
Apollo, my cousin told me not to look at the bouncers as they would "take me in
the back and give me a right good kickin'

| i remember years ago ,in my post punk days, being asked to go to see motorhead on the
ace of spades tour and declining because i wasn't really into their music at the
time. a decision i later regretted when i heard everyone i knew going on about how
good they were. i decided to familiarise my self with their music over the next
year or so,i grew to love the band and thus decided i wouldn't miss them again.sooner
or later they played the apollo again as part of the "another perfect
tour" i promptly went out and got myself a ticket, and went along on the
night. i don't think i have EVER been so disappointed in a concert.they played for
just over an hour, no " ace of spades" , "bomber",
"overkill", "motorhead", and the sight of brian robertson in
lycra.and to top it all they weren't even that loud ! what a let down ! ( i later
read in lemmys biography that robbo refused to play any old stuff). thankfully i
didn't let this put me off ,i have seen motorhead several times since and they have
always been excellent. if you haven't seen them ,i urge you to, you wont be
disappointed.

| Tank did support Motorhead during their hydraulic stage descent tour.
They
where trying to hard to sound and look like motorhead. The sound was poor and
eventually they where booed of the stage.
The one and only time I have seen
that happen at the Apollo.
