'I WAS THERE' - The Story of The Glasgow Apollo

I Was There - The Story of The Glasgow Apollo comes to the Clyde Auditorium on the 5th, 6th and 7th February 2009.

Glasgow's iconic Clyde Auditorium affectionately known as the Armadillo is set to be taken back 23 years and transformed into another legendary venue The Glasgow Apollo.

SECC 5th 6th 7th February

"I Was There" doesn't follow in the footsteps of "We Will Rock You" or "Mamma Mia", it is a Rock Musical with difference. It tells the story of not only one band or artist – it tells the story of the best rock bands ever to take to the stage, it features the best rock songs ever and the central character is not a singer or a guitarist – it is the famous Glasgow Apollo, the greatest rock venue in the world.

Starring Dave Anderson, Lesley Robertson and other top actors it chronicles the passion that people had and still have for the Apollo theatre and describes the heartbreak of what it's like to lose a big piece of your youth and your culture when it closed its doors in 1985. This will be the first time the Apollo Faithful recognised by bands from all over the globe as the "Glasgow Choir" will have had the chance to get together for over 23 years. It's a fantastic opportunity fro them to prove they are still the noisiest and craziest audience ever. Show tickets would be a real thoughtful Christmas Present follow link here

Experience what the Glasgow Apollo meant to the thousands of people who went faithfully to the biggest auditorium of its kind in Europe.

"I Was There' transports you back in time and gives you a fast paced show stretching from 1967 to 1985. 18 years of powerful music that influenced many of the bands of today. From Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, AC/DC, The Rolling stones, Frank Zappa, David Bowie, King Crimson, Yes, to Blondie, The Clash, The Jam and many more.

I Was There is a stunning show with a cast of over 100 dancers, actors and singers featuring loads of the best rock songs ever played by The Loud ‘n' Proud Rock Orchestra, a 20 piece band featuring some of the best young musicians in the country. They have been a regular at the Wickerman Festival for 3 years and played recently at the Two Rivers Rock Festival and packed out the ABC 1 in Glasgow.
